Today the firm welcomes Notre Dame star players Nana Osafo-Mensah and Audric Estimé to its Dublin office
Today, top 10 global law firm Eversheds Sutherland is delighted to announce its ongoing support of American Football as the official legal partner of the US College Football Classic 2023.
This year’s hotly anticipated fixture between one of the oldest rivalries in College Football - Notre Dame v Navy - will return to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 26th of August and the event is set to be bigger and better than ever before. The game is set to be a complete sell-out with 40,000 Americans expected to travel to Ireland. It will also be broadcast to millions in the US via broadcaster NBC.
This unique American Football experience will feature all the famous fanfare such as Notre Dame’s 300-member marching band, cheerleaders, tailgating parties, elements of the Brigade of Midshipmen Pageantry and the renowned half-time show!
The influx of fans is the largest transatlantic movement of Americans for any sporting event ever, boosting our Irish economy to the tune of an estimated €147m. The College Football Classic is also a major catalyst in the ambition to make Dublin the home of College Football outside of the US, while further strengthening business and academic ties between Ireland and the US.
To officially mark its support, Eversheds Sutherland is getting into the spirit of this unique American Football experience with a special event for its people. Today the firm is welcoming Notre Dame defensive lineman and Texas native, Nana Osafo-Mensah and New York running back Audric Estimé to its Dublin office for a chat about their football careers to date and impressive performance on the field.
Nana has appeared in all 13 games on the defensive for Notre Dame. Some of his highlights include finishing the season with 14 tackles (8 solo), earning a sack for a loss of eight yards, adding two quarterback hurries and forcing a fumble. In addition, Audric played in all 13 games, making two starts. He led the Irish with 920 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns during the season – ranking 10th-most all-time rushing touchdowns in a single season. He ran 156 times, averaging 5.9 yards per carry and caught nine passes for 135 yards and a score during the campaign.
Alan Connell, Managing Partner of Eversheds Sutherland LLP, Ireland’s largest and most-established global law firm, said:
“We are very excited to welcome Nana and Audric to our offices today to meet with our colleagues and we are delighted to be the exclusive legal partner of this year’s classic, following the huge success of the 2022 season opener.
