GDPR - 12 Month Countdown Begins - Top Ten Issues

The countdown to the introduction of the Europe-wide General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) has commenced.

The GDPR will be one of the most wide ranging pieces of legislation passed by the EU in recent times. It aims to affect a change in organisations cultures and attitudes towards data protection. It is important for companies to start familiarising themselves with the GDPR, but also to understand that many of the principles laid down by the current regime continue to apply under the GDPR. The increased onus of compliance introduced by the GDPR will no doubt impose a greater administrative burden and this coupled with greater sanctions highlights the need for organisations to prepare for its introduction.

With this in mind, our video below seeks to address the top ten most common issues raised in relation to the GDPR.

GDPR Preparation Booklet

We are currently working with a large number of organisations to create a GDPR compliance roadmap which will enable them to be clear in relation to the steps that need to be taken in order to ensure compliance. The key is to begin the process as early as possible in order to allow for a smooth transition. Key questions companies need to ask themselves include ‘who’s data do you hold’? ‘what data do you hold?’, ‘why are you holding the data?’, ‘how long you should retain the data?’ and ‘where you are holding/storing the data?

We have prepared a GDPR Preparation Booklet which is designed to assist organisations in understanding the above questions, and complying with the GDPR.
