Investigations and Risk Management, Ireland

Eversheds Sutherland’s investigations and risk management lawyers work with financial institutions, insurance companies, life sciences companies, energy and environmental entities, construction companies, and corporate entities. We use our practical experience to help you achieve your commercial and reputational objectives while minimising the consequences of investigations and enforcement actions.

We represent clients in all aspects and stages of domestic and cross jurisdictional investigations, risk management, corporate compliance, and enforcement work, with the benefit of legal privilege

Our lawyers defend regulatory investigations and we use that experience to allow you to get ahead of any crisis. We are the only team in Ireland comprised of specialist lawyers that also have access to an integrated, global team including former prosecutors and regulatory officials. Together we have decades of experience in the highest-profile criminal and regulatory matters.

Given the increasingly regulated landscape, appropriately conducted internal investigations can be seen as good governance and can help organisations to move towards a culture of individual accountability. These investigations can protect the organisation, mitigate risk and prevent fines, sanctions and reputational damage. Our clients often self-initiate internal investigations to evaluate and manage crisis situations, such as whistleblower allegations, fraud or financial reporting issues.

Wide range of triggers

Our lawyers conduct investigations related to a multitude of issues and allegations, including financial fraud, financial statement presentation, competition, data breach, executive misconduct, governance breach, regulatory investigation, employee whistleblowing, and customer complaints. Experience shows that investing time at the outset to agree the scope, reporting lines, legal privilege, milestones, PR and a proportionate budget is essential to a successful process.
