Wealth Management

Individual and family businesses alike have experienced huge growth in the values of their assets and businesses.  Our Wealth Management team can assist you in taking this opportunity to protect this wealth and ensure that the passing of the control and value in your assets to family and future generations can be achieved in the most efficient manner and under your direction.

Wills

For you to take control of the distribution of your estate in most cases the first step is to set out your wishes by making a will.  For successful individuals the importance of making a will cannot be overstated.  Your will is the starting point from which your named executors will be charged with distributing your estate.  We can work with you to set out in plain terms the individuals whom you wish to benefit from your estate and the most tax efficient methods to achieve this.  Taking the time now to make your will can ease the hardship and distress your family might otherwise be faced with.

Trusts

A Trust, when correctly implemented is a useful legal devise to ring fence a portion of your estate so that you can control:

  • Both the identities of the beneficiaries of your assets; and
  • The timing of any bequest dictated by the terms of the Trust.

In this way your assets can be protected and will not be dissipated until such time as you deem appropriate in accordance with your wishes.

Administration of Estates

So as to avoid any additional hardship on and distress to your family and beneficiaries, an issue of prime importance is the efficient administration of your estate.  Our Private Client team advise on the administration of an estate from start to finish, beginning with the issuing of the grant of probate through to the final distribution of your assets.

Contentious Estate Litigation

The duties imposed on the administrator of an estate can be onerous.  In dealing with the assets and liabilities of deceased individuals, complex legal and personal issues can arise, Our Private Client team has developed extensive experience in advising in respect of family disputes, tax liabilities and third party claims to entitlement.  We can assist you in overcoming these difficulties through early intervention and efficient representation in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Enduring Powers of Attorney

An Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPOA) is a legal document which you can prepare during your life time to provide for another person or persons, of your choosing, to manage your affairs should you become mentally incapable of doing so at some point in the future.

The EPOA involves the transfer of considerable powers to another person(s) and should not be entered into without appropriate legal advice.  Our Private Client team has considerable experience in advising individuals on the key aspects to consider, the scope of the EPOA and the safeguards to incorporate in order to protect you and your assets should the EPOA come into effect
