What is it?

Eversheds Nicea has set up a unit (the Pharma in house support Unit) that specialises in pharmaceutical law to support in-house legal departments bio-scientific and health products companies manage the need for specialised advise or exceptional increases in volume of work for various reasons.

The Unit is managed by the senior lawyer Marta Gonzalez.

Which is the added value of the Pharma Unit?

All the lawyers of the Pharma Unit have in-depth knowledge of the internal workings of pharmaceutical companies drawn from the experience gained in practising law in firms and in-house legal departments of major pharmaceutical companies (subsidiaries and headquarters).

Which services offers the Pharma Unit?

The support we are able to provide is wide ranging and includes the following services:

  • Drafting and negotiation of all types of contracts specifically related to the pharmaceutical industry of a routine or frequent nature (advisory boards, donations, sponsorships, speakers, etc.) and contracts concerning projects or initiatives promoted by pharmaceutical companies within the framework of their activity (projects aimed at improving patients’ lives, publication of guides about a given pathology, implementation of innovative diagnostic technology, etc.).
  • Drafting and negotiation of complex contracts specifically related to the pharmaceutical industry (licence agreements, sales force agreements, etc.).
  • Advice on and resolution of queries regarding the day-to-day working of the pharmaceutical industry (parallel import of medicines, advertising, compassionate use programmes, etc.).
  • Advice regarding the EFPIA and the Pharmaindustry Code.
  • Provision of support for clinical trials.
  • Global management of the affairs of affiliate pharmaceutical companies, acting as head of legal to the affiliate, providing advice to the management team committee and attending to their meetings.


How do we provide our services?

In Eversheds Nicea we are aware of the uniqueness of each client thus after understanding the client’s specific needs, the Unit Manager will give her opinion and set out the possible ways forward. The parties will then agree on the conditions under which the service will be provided. The service may have the following features:

  • Initial presence, defined and adjusted to the client’s requirements, of one of the Unit’s members in the client’s legal department.
  • Occasional meetings at the client’s request when so required”.
