Careers at Eversheds Sutherand UK

Practice Groups

At Eversheds Sutherland, our lawyers advise the world’s leading companies on their most significant and complex transactions. The scale of our expertise and resources is reflected in the diversity of our practice groups. Our core practice groups are Company Commercial, Litigation, Real Estate, Human Resources and Eversheds Sutherland Consulting.

Company Commercial

At Eversheds Sutherland, we know how organisations work. We understand the commercial drivers and strategic imperatives faced by business leaders – and we have a wealth of experience across a wide range of industries.

All these strengths come together in our outstanding Company Commercial practice group.

In fact, our teams of legal professionals are often right at the heart of our clients' businesses, driving innovation and delivering real commercial value. You will find them advising on M&A strategies, working on major commercial contracts, contributing to high-profile finance projects, dealing with matters relating to competition law and engaging in tax restructuring.

But that's just the start. Our people are also increasingly international in their reach and influence. From cross-border M&A to cartel investigations and even setting up share schemes across jurisdictions, they typically work with CEOs, entrepreneurs and other high-level decision makers to deliver creative, cost-effective and strategically important solutions. This in turn often involves working closely with Eversheds Sutherland colleagues in other specialist areas such as intellectual property, real estate, pensions and litigation.

Technical expertise is, of course, a vital requirement. But your success will also call for commercial awareness, the credibility to build relationships with senior people and a genuine interest in helping them achieve their objectives. Delivering exceptional standards of client service is important to us, and we will support you with training and professional development tailored to your individual needs and ambitions.

Are you looking for good career prospects, high quality work and the chance to help reshape the legal profession and embrace the business of law on international level? Then the case for joining Eversheds Sutherland is clear.

At Eversheds Sutherland, our Litigation teams are widely acknowledged to be among the very best in the legal profession. Acting for major clients throughout the world, we regularly deal with large-scale matters involving multiple jurisdictions for multi-nationals through our award winning and groundbreaking approach to project management. As a result, the work we do is incredibly varied and includes business disputes, commercial litigation, construction, regulatory issues, real estate litigation, IT, shipping, IP, and enquiries and investigations.

For all these reasons, more leading lawyers work in our team of over 500 specialist advisers than at any other firm. But size is only one of our strengths. We are lawyers who think strategically as well as legally. Our primary aim is to help clients avoid litigation wherever possible and we were the first firm in the UK to offer dispute management as a way forward from traditional aggressive litigation. Indeed, we have created a distinct Dispute Resolution Certificate programme within Eversheds – just part of a comprehensive package of training and professional development resources designed to keep our people ahead of the field.

Do you combine a strong intellect with the energy and enthusiasm to deliver results? Can you work well as part of an ambitious but highly collegiate team? Then we can promise you a career environment of exceptional variety and challenge. If you want high quality work, opportunities for overseas secondments and more freedom to engage with clients and develop sector-based experience within one of the most respected practices of its kind, we want to hear from you.

Real Estate

Few markets are changing faster than the real estate market. With increasingly sophisticated structures and vehicles, complex financing arrangements and the progressively global nature of the market, we need lawyers with the technical and commercial expertise to meet the needs of leading investors, developers and financial institutions in the UK and internationally.

As one of the largest and most successful practices of our kind, we have an exceptionally varied portfolio of work. Our teams handle the full property life-cycle, from acquisition, development and financing through to joint venturing, leasing and final exit. We apply our expertise to substantial regeneration schemes, portfolio asset management, fund restructuring, energy-related real estate projects and all aspects of planning, construction and taxation. Add to that one of the most experienced real estate dispute resolution teams in the UK and you will realise why Eversheds Sutherland can offer you a commercially-focused career environment of outstanding influence and reach.

As you might expect, we operate across multiple countries and a range of jurisdictions. By combining our global resources with our regional strength, we are able to deliver outstanding client service at the local level. More than that, the sheer diversity of our client base allows us to identify emerging issues at the earliest stage - and respond with innovative and commercial solutions that deliver real value for our clients.

Are you determined to stay at the forefront of developments in real estate law? Do you want to act for the real estate industry’s biggest players as part of a forward-thinking and highly commercial team? Then it's time to get in touch with Eversheds.

Human Resources Group

What makes the Eversheds Sutherland Human Resources Group special? Well, with 160 specialist employment lawyers, we now have the widest range of employment law experience in the UK. We also have over 70 specialist pensions lawyers who provide one of the most comprehensive pensions law services in Europe. And just for good measure, our strong team of HR consultants work alongside our lawyers to advise and guide clients on matters that affect their employees.

The result is one of the largest and most respected employment, pensions and consultancy groups in the sector. Our work ranges from pensions to employment tribunals, and we advise the biggest financial institutions and government bodies. We also regularly handle headline cases, and much of what we do has a significant international dimension.

So as you might expect, ours is also an environment of extraordinary pace. Rapidly changing pensions and employment law requires us to be fleet of foot and highly responsive to the evolving operational, strategic and commercial needs of our clients. That takes more than strong technical expertise. It takes flexible professionals with the emotional intelligence to relate to clients, understand the unique challenges they face, and build successful long-term relationships.

You will also discover sophisticated training resources and a collegiate team of people who actively share ideas and work together to fully understand and deliver the right advice to their clients. Are you keen to grow and develop? Do you share our determination to define the future of human resources law? Then we can offer you a meritocratic and supportive environment that will always recognise and reward your talent.

Many of the world’s leading organisations are attaching increasing importance to the expertise and innovation of their in-house legal counsel. Konexo team exists to help these in-house lawyers achieve greater efficiency and deliver measurable value.
