International pensions promises conference - key trends in global retirement benefits
Who should attend
This conference is aimed at in-house lawyers and pensions managers who work in international organisations, as well as HR directors and their teams, benefit consultants and anyone responsible for pension and retirement benefit plans in different jurisdictions.
Synopsis
This conference provides a broad understanding of the key issues affecting retirement benefits across a range of jurisdictions in an interactive environment. You also have a choice of attending country-specific breakout rooms for an update on current hot topics affecting those jurisdictions and there will be a quick fire current developments round up slot too.
The working environment has changed forever. The success of remote working during the pandemic means that for certain roles employees aren’t required to live and work in the same jurisdiction. This comes with lots of opportunity but it also brings challenges, such as employment, immigration and tax issues. Deciding on the right retirement provision to offer globally mobile employees is another challenge - international pension plans are one of a number of possible solutions to this but not the only way forward.
One other result of lockdowns over the last two years is an increase in member complaints and litigation about retirement benefit issues. We’ll look at the differing experience on this issue from a number of jurisdictions and the lessons to be learned. And ESG issues – and climate change in particular – continue to have real prominence in the retirement benefits sector following COP26. We’ll compare and contrast the approach taken in several different jurisdictions.
Delegates will gain an insight into:
- International pension provision for nomads: including IORPS, international pension plans, and local plans with governance committees, plus the employment, immigration and tax challenges around employees living and working in different jurisdictions.
- Themes in pensions litigation across various jurisdictions and the lessons to be learned.
- ESG and climate change: the impact on retirement plans across the globe of environmental, social and governance factors.
- Country-specific hot topics in your choice of breakout rooms.
- An overview of other current and developing pensions issues across a number of jurisdictions
