Synopsis

The Eversheds Sutherland annual IP Branding conference provides an opportunity to stay up-to-date with legal developments and industry trends. The half day conference will be the go to event for in-house lawyers and those in business who deal with brands. It will discuss current issues and challenges, as well as ideas on how to embrace the opportunities and be innovative. Speakers will come from our global IP practice to deliver topical and stimulating sessions focussed on technical IP excellence.

Guy Tritton, Barrister, Hogarth Chambers

Guy is an experienced intellectual property practitioner with a substantial and broad practice ranging from patents, copyright, designs through to franchising, competition law and commercial disputes. He has appeared in most tribunals including the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Court of Justice of European Union, European Patent Office, the Trade Mark Registry, VAT Tribunal and Crown Court.

He is widely regarded as having a very hands-on and commercial attitude to cases. In early years, he had an extensive criminal practice which honed his advocacy skills. He is now a Grade A Inner Temple Advocacy Teacher and his skills as a cross-examiner have often been remarked upon (see Testimonial & Directory Quotes). He is also Chief Examiner of the CIPA Litigation Skills Course.

Rick Sellars, Creative Director, Interbrand

Rick is Creative Director at Interbrand London. He believes in the value of an aligned approach to brand expression and communications and that effective design can be the catalyst to great experiences, for both customers and internal stakeholders. He graduated with a Masters degree in Typographic Studies from London College of Communication before working in Amsterdam and London on both corporate and cultural projects for clients including; Nokia, Barbican, Dutch Post Office, Arcadis and Shell.

In 2007 he co-founded Commercial Art with the focus on delivering design solutions aligned to clients’ business objectives. As creative director of Commercial Art Rick directed and managed projects in the UK and overseas for clients including: Nokia, Somerset House, Arts & Business and Sotheby’s. He left in 2013 to gain experience of larger branding projects and further develop his interest in the relationship between strategic objectives and creative output.

He has had work featured in several publications, been commended by Tokyo Type Directors Club and sat as a judge on the International Society of Type Designers student awards and the Dutch annual report awards.

At Interbrand he has led the creative development for clients in a number of sectors including: Siemens, Fiat, Fiskars, Ericsson and in the hospitality sector for IHG.
