Legal and regulatory advice for consumer credit providers

Our team has advised UK and international businesses on the UK Consumer Credit Act over many years and has therefore come across all the difficult technical issues that can arise and can give pragmatic solutions to tackle them.

The team comprises conduct of business lawyers who can advise on how the technical statutory regime interacts with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) principles and rules in the UK. In addition to experienced lawyers, ES Consulting and our compliance and risk team work with clients to implement necessary changes and assist with investigations.

Following the transfer of consumer credit regulation to the FCA in April 2014, all consumer credit firms who wanted to continue to carry out authorised business had to register with the FCA and apply for authorisation by 31 March 2016. We have assisted many firms operating in the consumer credit and retail finance sector to attain FCA authorisation. It is now imperative that all firms remain compliant with the FCA regime post authorisation.

Eversheds Sutherland is uniquely placed to help you ensure compliance. With a multi-disciplinary team of leading consumer credit lawyers and consultants with deep experience in governance, risk and compliance, we will ensure your business knows what is required of it and provide practical advice, support and guidance on the ground to implement any necessary changes.
