Unified patent court implementation tracker

The UPC agreement enters into force and the Unitary patent legislation takes effect on the first day of the fourth month after the latest to occur of the following steps having taken place:

  • 13 of the signatory states of the UPC Agreement (including France, Germany and the UK) deposit their instructions of ratification with the General Secretarial of the Council of the European Union;
  • The necessary amendments to Regulation(EU) No 1215/2012 of the European Parliament and the council of 12 December 2012 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgements in civil and commercial matters enter into force.
