Environment, Health and Safety Compliance Review

Our lawyers can help you test the effectiveness of Health and Safety management system

The UK’s Health and Safety, Food Safety and Corporate Manslaughter Sentencing Guidelines are very stringent and large companies are now being hit with fines in the £millions for being in breach of health and safety law – not only does this affect the bottom line but it can also result in serious reputational damage.

Many organisations have strong and effective safety management systems in place ‘on paper’ but these systems are not necessarily followed on the ground by staff or local management. It is very difficult for the board, senior management team or the organisation’s health and safety department to identify this through standard audits.

Our Health and Safety Compliance Review

Our experienced health and safety lawyers can undertake an in-depth review of your organisation’s safety management system through an assessment of key documentation, followed by carefully selected interviews of your employees at all levels of the business.

We can quickly identify key deficiencies with your safety management system and/or its implementation and can advise you on your key risk areas thus reducing the risk of future criminal/civil liability.

We then work with you to put in place a plan to resolve any issues and to reduce risk. The feedback we have received on the effectiveness and quality of this product has been fantastic.

“As a team we are often brought in to conduct a Compliance Review when a new CEO joins a business or the board of directors is seeking reassurance about whether the organisation’s health and safety management system is effective,” says our Head of Environment, Health and Safety Kevin Elliott.

If you have any concerns about how health and safety is managed within your organisation or have a high volume of health and safety incidents / near misses then you should consider undertaking a Compliance Review.
