Environment, Health and Safety law
Our Environment, Health and Safety lawyers offer a comprehensive range of services to major corporates and institutions across the UK.
Introduction to the EHS team
As well as offering mainstream environmental, health and safety and food safety criminal defence work, our experienced lawyers can advise you on complex regulatory requirements including chemical compliance, producer responsibility, sustainability, BREXIT, CE marking, trading standards, product safety, product labelling and licensing.
Our experienced lawyers help support organisations in responding to major incidents and help senior and local management bring an emerging situation under control. We have extensive experience in dealing with regulators such as the:
- Health and Safety Executive
- Environment Agency
- Local Authorities
- Trading Standards
- Police
- Department for Transport
- Drinking Water Inspectorate
- Office of Rail and Road
- Care Quality Commission
- Oil and Pipelines Agency
We help investigate the cause of incidents, provide advice and support during investigations by the regulators and help to manage communications both internally and externally. We can also support organisations at Inquests, the interview under caution stage and any subsequent sentencing hearings in the Magistrates’ Court or Crown Court.
Over the years our team has worked on many of the UK’s highest profile cases including:
- Grenfell Tower fire
- Didcot Power Station collapse,
- Croydon tram crash
- Buncefield explosion
- Chester le Street inflatable artwork incident
- Potters Bar rail crash.
This experience puts us in the perfect position to help your organisation.
“Our lawyers not only possess first-rate technical skills but also have specialist sector knowledge, the ability to view complex details in the context of overarching commercial priorities and the communication skills needed to be able to work effectively with people at all levels of an organisation.”
Tim Hill, Head of UK Environment, Health and Safety team
