New methodology to assess whether tax benefits are justified: how article 54.1 of the Russian Tax Code changed tax control in Russia

August 19, 2018, marked a year since the new article 54.1 of the Russian Tax Code came into force. The well-known term of “unjustified tax benefit” was replaced by limits on the way taxpayers exercise their rights related to the calculation and payment of tax.

This amendment to the Tax Code was not limited to a simple change in language, rather, a new mode of thinking in the field of tax control was implemented at a legislative level. The manner in which this mode of thinking is changing tax control in Russia we will be the topic of our business brunch.
