Hugo is a corporate partner and is experienced in financial services. Hugo advises on transactions (M&A, joint ventures, Part VIIs and risk transfer transactions) in the insurance market as well as the wider financial institutions sector.

Hugo also advises on the full range of regulatory and company law relevant to (re)insurers.

  • Acting for Aviva on the £385m acquisition of Succession Wealth
  • Acting for Scottish Widows on the transfer of £10bn of longevity risk from three Lloyds Banking Group pension schemes via Scottish Widows to Pacific Life and the subsequent £5.5bn transaction with SCOR
  • Acting for Aviva on a funded reinsurance transaction with Prudential Financial
  • Advising Standard Life, part of Phoenix Group, on its strategic agreement with Key Group to enter the lifetime mortgage market
  • Acting for Royal London on the acquisition of Police Mutual
