Practice notes
Amy has a wide experience in criminal regulatory defence work and dealing with complex and high profile litigated cases. She acts for organisations and individuals following incidents at work investigated by regulators including the HSE, ORR and Local Authorities.
She successfully defended the mining company prosecuted for corporate manslaughter following the Gleision mining disaster in 2012 when 4 miners were killed heard over a three month trial in Swansea Crown Court. She also successfully defended a Contracts Manager who was prosecuted following a fatal incident in Hanover Square the trial taking place over two months at the Old Bailey.
Currently Amy is an appointed solicitor for the largest water company in the UK for both its health & safety and environmental work.
Amy has been instructed in a number of complex Inquests including the Manchester Arena bombings, a death on a Smart Motorways and a fatal incident at Heathrow Airport.
Amy undertakes holistic safety reviews including for a train maintenance company with multiple sites across the UK, a ground handling and cargo company across its UK airport sites and a large franchised gym group to include over 175 of its sites UK sites.
Amy regularly advises clients on work related stress, mental health and wellbeing. She also sits on Eversheds Sutherland’s Wellbeing Steering Committee and Wellbeing and Inclusion Network.
Amy is the Vice Secretary of the Health and Safety Lawyers’ Association and events lead for the Women in Health and Safety network.
Amy’s articles and comment is regularly published in the Compliance and Risk Journal and Safety and Health Practitioner to which she is a frequent contributor.
