Practice notes

Lennart is a senior associate in our Litigation and Dispute Management Practice Group. Lennart is based at Eversheds Sutherland’s Rotterdam office.

Lennart has experience in a wide range of complex and often international disputes, both including (commercial) arbitration and court litigation (including preliminary relief proceedings) representing and advising national and international clients from various sectors.

His recent experience includes:

  • Various won ICC arbitrations against a state oil company regarding several commercial disputes, jointly amounting to approximately USD 1 billion
  • Attachment proceedings regarding the attachment of evidence regarding the enforcement of a Dutch arbitral award
  • Various (successful) proceedings regarding the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the Netherlands
  • Successful proceedings before the Amsterdam Enterprise Chamber (Ondernemingskamer) of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal
  • Achieving a favourable settlement for a Finish subsidiary of an Irish listed company following the termination of a distribution agreement
  • Assisting a foreign gas company in summary proceedings, after the counterparty levied attachments on an amount of gas worth USD 30 million with a successful subsequent joinder in the main proceedings
  • Successfully defended a Japanese chemical company in ICC proceedings (both in interim measures and the main arbitration) regarding a USD 20 million claim of one of its former distributors

Lennart has a background in corporate M&A and private equity transactions and gained experience at several other Dutch based law firms.

He completed his legal education at Groningen University (2013) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2015) and qualified as a lawyer (advocaat) in September 2018.

Lennart has written articles on the role of fairness opinions for well-established corporate litigation chronicle ‘Geschriften vanwege de Vereniging Corporate Litigation’ and has written an article about conflict management and dispute resolution between German and Dutch business partners, together with colleagues from the Netherlands and Germany, which article was published in Germany’s leading online portal Juris.
