Practice notes

Aseel is a Senior Associate in our Dispute Resolution and Company Commercial Practice Group, specialising in international arbitration. Aseel has acted as counsel in both institutional and ad hoc arbitrations (including under the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, and LCIA rules). She has also represented private and public clients in a number of international business transactions and has advised on the prospects of success in bringing or defending legal claims arising out of these transactions.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Aseel worked with a boutique law firm based out of Washington, D.C. In this capacity, Aseel represented a sovereign state in a US$ 1.4 billion ICC arbitration in the oil and gas sector. Aseel has also worked with a boutique law firm based out of Amman, Jordan to represent a sovereign state in an ICSID arbitration in the telecommunications sector.

Prior to obtaining her Juris Doctorate in Law, Aseel worked with the World Bank Group Middle East and North Africa Department and participated in drafting World Bank strategies and conducting official consultations for the Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Syria portfolios.

Aseel obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Duke University, Masters in International Public Policy from University College London, and Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University Law School. She is admitted to the New York State Bar and is a member of the Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) of the LCIA and the Arbitral Women Forum.
