Practice notes

Matthias is an Associate in the Tax practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Dusseldorf.

He inter alia advises companies, banks, family offices and VC/PE investors with respect to national and international tax law.

In addition, Matthias also advises on matters of tax offences and general tax compliance.

He is a member of the German-American Lawyers Association (Deutsch-Amerikanischen Juristen-Vereinigung, DAJV).

Matthias studied law at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. He also completed his legal traineeship in Schleswig-Holstein in the course of which he worked in Dusseldorf and for the German embassy in Washington D.C.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Matthias worked in the Tax Offences practice group of a renowned law firm in Bonn.

His recent experience includes:

  • Advising on the tax structuring of an international software developer
  • Advising an automotive supplier on a tax structuring
  • Advising an international investor on the acquisition of a wind farm
  • Advising an international asset and investment company in criminal tax proceedings
  • Advising on voluntary tax declarations and correction declarations
  • Advising a renowned industry association on tax compliance issues
