Practice notes

Andrew Bell is a Principal Associate in the Eversheds Sutherland Company Commercial Practice Group. He specialises in advising on large scale infrastructure, projects and commercial transactions with a focus on the rail sector.

In particular, Andrew is experienced in advising in relation to:

  • the award of passenger rail franchises in England (both on a competed and directly awarded basis);
  • the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts in the regulated railway environment, including in the context of major station redevelopments;
  • transactions for the leasing of railway rolling stock (both passenger and freight), including the procurement of new fleets of vehicles;
  • contracts for the transportation of freight by rail; and
  • the legislative and regulatory framework under which the British rail industry operates, including in the context of rail-served port and freight terminal facilities.
