Legal Director

Practice notes

Rachel is a Legal Director in our Commercial Dispute Resolution group. She has experience across a range of commercial disputes, acting in claims involving breach of contract issues, fraud, professional negligence and claims arising in the insolvency context.

Her experience includes acting for a sovereign wealth fund in high value proceedings brought against a global financial institution in the Commercial Court, involving allegations of fraud and corruption; acting in claims being pursued in the Financial List by a number of insolvent companies against major financial entities arising from a complex VAT fraud; and acting for large groups of individual Claimants pursuing losses against professional advisers arising from investment in failed tax mitigation schemes.

Rachel also has an interest in costs and funding related issues, and has been involved in a number of cases involving alternative fee arrangements, third party funding and adverse costs insurance.

Rachel has been identified in the Legal 500 as a “Next Generation Lawyer” and described as “highly rated” in the field of banking litigation.

Rachel is currently on secondment to the firm’s in-house Risk and Knowledge function, managing the team which deals with professional negligence and other claims brought against the firm. Her role includes liaising with the firm’s professional indemnity insurers, practice groups and the wider business. She is also involved in risk management, identifying and sharing lessons learned and working with practice groups to implement risk mitigation measures.
