Adam is a Principal Associate in our Financial Services Disputes & Investigations team.

He advises on a broad range of financial services disputes and investigations, with a particular specialism in regulatory investigations, including defending firms and individuals in FCA/PRA enforcement actions, advising clients in relation to FCA and other regulatory enquiries, and working on s.166 skilled person’s reviews – both where Eversheds Sutherland have been appointed as the skilled person and where clients are subject to such reviews.

Adam’s recent experience includes acting for a senior manager at a major international bank in his successful defence of an FCA enforcement action arising from control failings in his firm’s FX trading business; acting for a major international bank in its successful defence of an FCA enforcement action arising from its preparation for, and conduct in relation to, a s.166 skilled person’s review into its PPI complaints handling operations; and working on a s.166 skilled person’s review into an international private bank’s AML and sanctions systems and controls.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland in 2013, Adam worked for the Enforcement Division of what was then the Financial Services Authority.

Adam has particular expertise acting for individuals subject to regulatory enquiries. He has defended a number of individuals in their FCA enforcement actions, across a wide range of financial institutions and different sectors. Whilst on a secondment at a major international bank, he assisted in its implementation of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (“SMCR”). Adam now sits on Eversheds Sutherland’s SMCR Steering Committee. He has also advised a number of individuals in relation to their FCA Senior Management Function approvals.

Adam also has particular expertise in financial crime matters, including anti-money laundering and market misconduct issues, where he has acted for a number of firms and individuals in FCA enforcement actions and other regulatory enquiries.

Finally, Adam has an interest in sports law, especially governance, disciplinary and corruption issues, and has written numerous articles for leading sports law publications. He is an active member of the British Association for Sport and the Law (“BASL”) and undertakes pro bono matters on behalf of Sports Resolutions.
