Practice notes

Jacqueline Cadmus is an Associate in the Commercial (IP) practice group of Eversheds Sutherland in Hamburg.

Jacqueline advises companies and creative professionals in the area of intellectual property and unfair competition, in particular regarding trademark, design and competition law, as well as media law and copyright law.

Her area of expertise includes the representation of client interests in and out of court and vis-à-vis authorities. She advises clients on their strategic approaches and the drafting and negotiation of contracts. Jacqueline mainly advises national and international companies from the trade/retail, media & entertainment and consumer goods industry sectors.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland in 2022, Jacqueline worked for a renowned boutique law firm in the city centre of Hamburg specialising in the aforementioned focus areas. During that time, she mainly advised clients from the film and music industry ranging from well-known (German) stars and aspiring newcomers and their respective merchandise partners to large Hamburg-based advertising agencies.

In addition to her court expertise, in particular before the special chambers for trademark, copyright and competition matters, Jacqueline was also able to gain first experience in mediation.

Furthermore, she individually and within the framework of workshops advised artists on a pro-bono basis for a European-funded association for the performing arts in Berlin with respect to all questions around copyright and contract drafting as well as the choice of law for the establishment of a collective.

Jacqueline studied law in Heidelberg, Copenhagen and Hamburg and specialised in the above areas of expertise already during her training.

She completed her legal traineeship at Hamburg Higher Regional Court in 2018 with stints in the competition chamber of Hamburg Regional Court, a popular film production in Potsdam and a law firm specialising in intellectual property and unfair competition law.

In January 2019, Jacqueline was admitted to the bar of the Hanseatic Chamber of Lawyers and has been a member of the Hamburg Lawyer's Association ever since.
