Julie is a Senior Associate in the Human Resources Practice Group experienced in Employment and Labour Law. Julie is experienced in advising clients on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious Employment Law matters and regularly advises in relation to complex disciplinary and grievance issues as well as defending high value discrimination and whistleblowing Tribunal claims.
Julie is a trusted adviser to a number of key clients within the Diversified Industrials, Life Sciences, Transport and Consumer sectors and provides strategic advice to clients in relation to large scale business reorganisations; changing terms and conditions, Trade Union disputes, TUPE transfers, executive severances and collective redundancies. Julie takes a particular interest in discrimination issues and has developed a speciality in this area.
Julie’s recent experience includes:-
- providing technical and practical guidance to clients in a range of sectors in respect of the new private sector IR35 legislation;
- providing strategic advice to a national airline in relation to negotiations with BALPA, the pilot’s union, to achieve the settlement of over 700 pilot holiday pay claims;
- acting for a FTSE 100 company in relation to a high value unfair dismissal/whistleblowing Employment Tribunal claim involving a 3 week Tribunal hearing;
- advising a multi-national pharmaceutical company in relation to its holiday pay strategy across the UK and the settlement over 100 holiday pay claims;
- advising a FTSE 100 client throughout a highly sensitive whistleblowing and discrimination grievance and subsequent Employment Tribunal claim with a value of circa £400,000;
- providing strategic advice to a Diversified Industrials client regarding a union recognition issue and successful settlement of a failure to consult Employment Tribunal claim;
- advising a multi-national Diversified Industrials sector client in relation to the negotiation of a collective agreement with Unite the Union.
