Practice notes

Neil is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Dispute Resolution group and handles a broad spectrum of litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters, helping clients to manage complex disputes and control commercial risks. He also operates within in our International Arbitration Group acting as Counsel.

Neil’s key sectors are Energy and Renewables, Infrastructure and Transport. He frequently acts as the lead Associate on the largest, highest value and most complex cases within the Firm’s Commercial Disputes practice. His recent experience includes acting for Shell, Transport for London, GE, WeWork and DHL.

Neil’s recent experience includes:

  • Acting for UK Biocentre to defend Part 7 and JR proceedings arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic on a highly expedited timetable before the Technology and Construction Court.
  • Representing a Middle-Eastern NOC in $45bn parallel arbitration proceedings before the PCA.
  • Defending a significant public sector transport client in a multi-million GBP complex pricing arbitration pursuant to LCIA rules.
  • Representing a Middle-Eastern state as Counsel in multi-billion USD proceedings before the Iran-US Claims Tribunal.

Neil’s experience includes a 6-month secondment to Shell where he worked alongside the UK Head of Legal and in-house leads for Retail, Commercial Fuels, Aviation, Real Estate and Media/Advertising.

Neil is a key contributor to the Firm’s mentoring schemes, working with the University of Leeds and BPP University. He is also responsible for the supervision of the team’s Apprentice Solicitor.
