Cat is a Principal Associate in the Human Resources Practice Group and specialises in public sector, private sector and education sector pensions law.
Cat acts for administering authorities of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), advising on all aspects of the LGPS, compliance with the relevant legislation and governance. Cat also acts for private sector contractors, councils and other bodies participating in the LGPS and has significant experience of advising in relation to outsourcing projects, including advising on employees' public sector pensions rights, drafting and negotiating outsourcing contracts and advising on admission to schemes.
Cat also advises on matters relating to the Police Pension Scheme, Fire Pension Scheme, Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme, NHS Pension Scheme, Teachers’ Pension Scheme and the Universities Superannuation Scheme and the employers that participate in those schemes.
Cat also advises trustees of private sector pension schemes and sponsoring employers on a full range of pensions-related legal issues. She has acted for a wide variety of clients, advising in respect of pensions law compliance. Cat’s recent experience has included advising on administering benefits, scheme change proposals, the implementation of new pension arrangements and scheme governance requirements.
Cat also advises on the pensions aspects of corporate sales and acquisitions.
Cat is a regular speaker at public sector pensions events, including the LGPS Pensions Managers’ Conference. She also regularly writes pensions articles and provides training to clients.
Cat is a member of the North East Association of Pension Lawyers (NEAPL) and a member of the national Association of Pension Lawyers (APL).
