Elodie specialises in non-contentious environmental matters including contamination, environmental permitting, producer responsibility, energy-related laws and chemicals legislation.
Elodie is an Associate in our Environment, Health and Safety team based in Manchester. She advises clients in all aspects of environmental law including contaminated land, environmental permitting/industrial emissions, waste management, producer responsibility obligations (including packaging, WEEE, ROHS and batteries), chemicals compliance (including GB/EU REACH, Biocidal Products Regulation and Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation) and energy-related legislation. Elodie also carries out environmental and health and safety due diligence in the context of corporate and real estate transactions and advises on the allocation of environmental risk.
Elodie has a particular interest in Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) matters (including habitats/natural resources protection, supply chain management and workers' rights). Other topics of interest include plastics, greenwashing and sustainability. Key sectors she is interested in include the Consumer and Sports sectors.
Outside of work Elodie enjoys spending time with her two Siamese cats, hiking and watching sports (including football, rugby and tennis). Elodie is fluent in French.
Elodie's experience includes:
- advising a petrochemical company on the production and supply of hand sanitiser and disinfectant products during the COVID-19 crisis, in particular on the requirements arising from the BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation) and the CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals).
- advising a US-based manufacturer on restrictions on the use of lead, hexavalent chromium and PFOA in products in the EU/UK.
- providing advice to a nuclear site in relation to water abstraction licensing and bird control licensing.
- advising a distributor of consumer and commercial products on the plastic packaging tax.
- providing advice to the UK subsidiary of a car manufacturing company on GB REACH following the end of the Brexit transition period.
- advising the administrators of a company on compliance with a water discharge consent for a sewage treatment plant and drafting correspondence to the Environment Agency.
- assisting real estate colleagues in respect of energy performance of buildings requirements and on the Minimum Energy Efficiency (Private Rented Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015.
