Rebecca Foord

Rebecca is a Principal Associate in the Real Estate group in our London office. 

She specializes in advising private equity, sovereign, and institutional investors on inward investment into the prime UK property and property debt markets. Rebecca has particular experience in advising on complex development and leasing transactions involving public bodies and has a thorough understanding of the interface issues that arise between public and private sector entities in complex transactions.

Rebecca is known for having a commercial attitude and getting to the heart of the issues quickly on difficult transactions, which delivers clients value by only focusing on the real core issues, which greatly aids in speeding up transactions to successful completion.

Her key clients include German and Luxembourg funds, sovereign wealth funds, UK institutional investors, and lenders and public bodies. 

Rebecca plays a key part in business development at Eversheds. 

Many of her transactions have been published in the national press. Her recent experience includes advising on:

  • a broad range of matters relating to the Axis site in Birmingham, including principally title, vacant possession strategy and a proposed pre-let to a government body
  • the leasing and title issues relating to the London Bridge Quarter Estate (which includes the Shard of Glass) in London; extensive advice on this mixed-use estate including all office and retail leasing
  • numerous sales and purchases for open-ended funds, including a joint venture to acquire a development site for a speculative multi-unit industrial development totaling circa 168,000 sq. ft. and a £30 million purchase of an industrial building in Barnsley
  • a complex variation to a development agreement for lease and surrender relating to a lease of land adjoining Waterloo International Terminal and associated development works (including provision by the developer of a new public realm and demolition and reconstruction of a new footbridge between Waterloo Station concourse and York Road alongside the developer’s redevelopment of Elizabeth House to provide a new office-led mixed use scheme) and related neighborly matters agreements
  • the restructuring and commercial redevelopment of parts of the former British Rail property portfolio involving procurement, redevelopment, investment and tenant relocation advice
  • a £400 million+ complex development of luxury residential apartments next to Regent’s Park, including refinancing matters and satisfying s.106 obligations to grant a D1 lease on specific terms before the completion of any residential flat sales
  • three transactions worth over £600 million for the acquisition of 10 student accommodation properties with over 3,300 beds
  • both banks and borrowers on the Real Estate aspects of Facility Agreements and Debentures; for example, acting for a borrower on a refinancing relating to the refurbishment of a multi-tenanted office block in central Manchester; £65 million loan acting for an overseas bank secured over 11 multi-tenanted properties
  • leading and managing the UK Real Estate portfolio of various overseas Real Estate Funds for whom she is key account manager on all asset management work
  • Team awards: Rebecca is part of an award-winning team, which has won Real Estate Team of the Year awards on six separate occasions by Legal Business, LegalWeek and The Lawyer in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019
