Practice notes

Daniel is a partner in our Planning and Infrastructure Consenting team. He is experienced in all aspects of planning and environmental law and has particular expertise in the consenting of major infrastructure projects.

Daniel has acted on two of the most complex and high-profile projects to be promoted in recent years, leading the legal team on the Heathrow expansion programme and also advising on the Thames Tideway Tunnel from project inception through to consent and delivery.

Since qualifying in 2003, Daniel has dealt with a wide range of non-contentious and contentious planning and environmental matters across the transport, water, energy and waste sectors in the UK and Australia.

Daniel is a member of the Council of the National Infrastructure Planning Association (NIPA).

Recent highlights include:

  • advising on the promotion of the expansion of Heathrow airport and in relation to the legal challenges to the Airports National Policy Statement
  • advising on the successful promotion of the application for development consent for the Thames Tideway Tunnel and in relation to associated legal challenges

Qualifications and Education

  • Admitted as a solicitor of New South Wales, Australia (August 2003) and England and Wales (July 2014)
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB), University of New South Wales, 1997-2001
