Thomas is a partner at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich and Co-Head of the Banking & Finance practice group in Germany.
He advises in particular national and international financial institutions, debt funds, sponsors and corporate borrowers on leveraged buyouts, unitranche financings, bank/bond financings as well as corporate lending for large- and mid-cap companies.
His core expertise comprises:
- acquisition financing
- direct lending (including senior/super-senior structures)
- project and infrastructure financing
- leveraged buy-outs
- corporate loans (including borrower's note loans)
- restructurings
Thomas has many years of experience with creditors and lenders, including unitranche and other direct lending financing. He has also broad experience in advising on complex debt restructurings, out-of-court solutions, insolvency proceedings and distressed M&A transactions.
In addition, he is a co-author of the handbook “Acquisition Finance Agreements in Germany” (Beck 2017).
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Thomas had been working in the Banking practice group of Latham & Watkins LLP in Munich. He started his career in the Banking & Finance practice group of Ashurst LPP in Munich.
Thomas’ recent experience includes advising:

- ZAPF GmbH in connection with a EUR 45m bank/bond financing
- AURELIUS Wachstumskapital on the financing of the acquisition of DF-ING Group
- AURELIUS Wachstumskapital on the financing of the acquisition of PRIORIT AG
- Siemens Bank as super senior lender on the refinancing of the PLIXXENT group
- Oldenburgische Landesbank AG as super senior lender on the refinancing of FSN Capital V’s investment in ecovium
- Oldenburgische Landesbank AG as super senior lender on the financing of FSN Capital VI’s investment in MEGABAD
