Natascha Geraedts is a Senior Partner who heads the Real Estate practice in the Netherlands.
Natascha helps companies in their goal to develop real estate projects, including large data center developments, and renewable energy projects. Natascha has over 20 years’ experience in complex situations and jurisdictions.
Natascha started her career at the Highest Administrative Court at the Council of State. She joined Eversheds Sutherland in 2018 to set up the Planning department.
Natascha has broad domestic and international experience — she has lived in DR Congo, Egypt, Reunion and Greece — and in-depth knowledge of permitting, planning and zoning in relation to real estate projects. Natascha is highly recommended for negotiating with local and national authorities.
Natascha has developed a large practice within the data center sector and she has built up a team of experts who advise data center developers on all regulatory aspects. Natascha is part of the Global Data center team and the Global Energy team within Eversheds Sutherland. Natascha is a frequent speaker at events, she publishes frequently and is an author for Wolters Kluwer.
Natascha is a co-founder and board member of the En Classe foundation (www.enclasse.org) and is board member of the Foundation IJbaan (www.ijbaan.nl).
Her experience includes:
- Advise a worldwide chemicals company on permitting and compliance requirements for closing business activities at its Dutch plant
- Advise a global chemicals company on enforcement decision taken by authorities regarding their Dutch faility
- Advise and litigation for a global tech company setting up multiple datacenters in the Netherlands. Work included zoning, permitting, drafting of all project documentation and negotiations with authorities
- Advise on the permitting process, all applicable EHS requirements, including negotiations with the Ministry and obtaining energy subsidies for the amount of 50 million euros for a company in the process of setting up multiple biomass-fired power plants in the Netherlands
- Advise a major Dutch property developer on the risks of extensive contamination of ground water on adjacent land
- Advise and litigation for a large solar energy developer regarding the realisation of their ground mounted solar park
- Advise and litigation regarding permitting for a large developer of biomass plants, including advise on renewable energy subsidies
- Advise a real estate fund on the development and realisation of a data center in the Hague
- Advise on extensive clarification of specific decree issued to target company by Dutch environmental (EHS) authorities for a company acquiring a target company on liabilities regarding remaining contamination in soil after termination of remediation
- Advise a landowner of a large estate in his court proceedings for claiming extensive damage caused by planning and change of the zoning plan
- Advised a Dutch company on the relocation of its real estate property, including negotiations with authorities, litigation proceedings and drafting of all project documentation
- Advise on all permitting requirements for a UK wind developer in a wind development project on an industrial site in the Netherlands
Natascha is an author for Wolters Kluwer, publishes on administrative law legislation and is a guest lecturer at Leiden University.
