Practice notes

Eleanor joined the Commercial team as an Associate in September 2022, after spending six months in the team during her training with the firm.

Eleanor helps public and private sector bodies with the delivery of complex contractual arrangements and provides strategic advice on wide-ranging issues. She assists with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements across a variety of sectors including Governments and Infrastructure, Industrials and FS.

She also provides support to our Corporate team in respect of potential commercial issues arising on mergers and acquisitions of companies.

Prior to joining the Commercial team, Eleanor gained experience in real estate, employment and pensions law during her time as a Trainee solicitor. Eleanor also gained significant prior experience working as a Paralegal across commercial, corporate, employment and real estate law.

In her spare time, Eleanor enjoys classical singing, visiting new places, cooking and keeping her French language skills in shape. She also has a passion for all things transport related, having grown up in a family of car enthusiasts.

Eleanor's recent client experience includes:

  • assisting in advising the UK Department for Transport in relation to the process leading to the successful appointment of its in-house Operator of Last Resort to take over the operation of Southeastern rail services from London & South Eastern Railway Limited in October 2021
  • helping an Industrials sector client by reviewing and marking-up supplier Ts&Cs in the context of an international supply of goods contract, and by providing high-level, commercial advice to the client on specific provisions of the Ts&Cs including product warranty, limitation of liability and force majeure provisions, along with advice on how Brexit / the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement might affect the contract in question
  • helping a large public sector body in the rail sector to analyse a strategically important contract and supporting documentation and providing strategic advice based on contractual interpretation
  • supporting an arm’s length government body by assisting with several outsourcing projects
  • assisting in advising a multinational financial services and asset management company on a large-scale, complex joint-venture agreement.

Qualifications and Education

  • Diploma in Legal Practice, BPP University (Birmingham), Distinction, 2019-2020
  • BA Law with French and French Law, University of Nottingham, 2:1 with Distinction in Spoken French, 2013-2017
