Practice notes

Ashley is a partner in our corporate and commercial practice in the Dubai office and Head of Projects (Middle East) with nine years’ experience in the Middle East focusing on project finance. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Ashley was a managing associate in Linklaters LLP’s Project Finance team in Dubai.

Ashley has advised on a number of high profile transactions in the infrastructure, renewables, oil & gas, petrochemicals and power and water (IWP, IWPP and ISTP) sectors across the MENA region. He has represented sponsors, developers, commercial lenders, Islamic finance institutions, ECAs and multilateral agencies, in all aspects of project financing, including bids, acquisitions and disposals.

In addition, Ashley has extensive experience in Islamic finance. Recent examples include advising on the award-winning US$3bn Dubai Airports Islamic and conventional multi-debt platform (the first such debt platform transaction to be done in the Middle East) and on the US$1.6bn commodity murabaha for Nogaholding in Bahrain.

Ashley obtained his LLB from Oxford University and his LPC from Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. He is an England and Wales qualified lawyer and has been practicing since October 2010.

Ashley is named as a ‘Rising Star’ by Legal 500 in the Infrastructure and Projects (including Project Finance) sector.
