Michael is a senior associate in Eversheds Sutherland’s Indirect Real Estate team. He handles a broad range of matters in the AIF and indirect real estate market, advising in relation to joint ventures, real estate M&A, private and public REITs, re-organisations and profit arrangements relating to real estate structures. He also has experience advising fund managers in relation to the establishment and operation of, and investors in relation to the investment into and sale of interests in, real estate and alternative investment fund structures.

His experience includes acting for clients such as Aviva Investors, Battersea Power Station Development Company Limited, Hammerson, Galliard Homes, UPP, British Land, Grosvenor Fund Management, Bridges Fund Management, Aberdeen Standard, CC Land and Rocket Investments.

Michael’s recent indirect real estate experience includes acting for:

  • Audley Group in relation to their joint venture with the real estate arm of Schroders and Octopus Real Estate, to fund the development of four sector leading retirement villages
  • University Partnership Programme on their conversion to a REIT, which included advising in relation to the joint venture arrangements between PGGM and Gingko Tree
  • Aviva Investors in relation to various matters relating to its (previously named) REaLM funds, including coordinating numerous amendments to the Aviva Investors Infrastructure Income Fund
  • C C Land on its acquisition of the Luxembourg and Jersey based holding structures 1 Kingdom Street, Paddington for c£300m
  • University Partnership Programme on the structured acquisition from St. Modwens of c. 1,200 beds at Swansea University for £120m
  • Bridges Fund Management on the establishment of a UK domiciled social impact fund
  • Galliard Homes in relation to their joint venture with AG Investream to develop housing at Trinity Square, Hounslow

Michael is on the committee for the Investment Property Forum’s Future Leaders, and is an active member of the indirect real estate market.
