Charlie is an principal associate in our London tax team. She has particular experience in real estate tax and VAT. She also advises on corporate and finance transactions including contentious tax matters.

Charlie advises on a wide range of real estate transactions. Her recent experience includes: tax advice to Royal London Asset Management on the creation of its property authorised investment fund (PAIF) - the first PAIF to be launched; advising Legal & General on major real estate investments including the £120 million purchase of the ING Covent Garden Estate; assisting Catalyst Capital LLP in applying the new offshore fund regime to its Jersey funds and obtaining favourable HMRC clearances confirming our tax analysis advising NewRiver Retail Limited on the tax aspects of the real estate and finance documentation relating to the acquisition of a major portfolio of five UK shopping centres at an aggregate cost of £53 million.

Charlie is also currently advising on an appeal to the First-tier Tribunal (Tax) in a groundbreaking SDLT case challenging HMRC's application of SDLT charity relief.

Charlie has completed a three month secondment with the British Property Federation (BPF) on a number of real estate tax lobbying initiatives for the real estate industry.
