Dean is a senior associate in our litigation and dispute management group.
He is experienced in handling a broad range of disputes at both Sheriff Court and Court of Session level in Scotland. He also has experience in handling English County Court claims.
His recent experience includes: successfully defending claims arising from s75 of the Consumer Credit Act; defending and reaching abandonment of claims raised under the Occupiers Liability (Scotland) Act 1960; acting on behalf of insurers to defend and reach settlement in complex, large loss personal injury claims; and undertaking a s1 “dawn raid” on behalf of a commercial client.
Dean is an experienced litigator and has appeared in Sheriff Courts across Scotland on behalf of insurers and commercial clients. Dean has also conducted a number of Proofs (civil trials) which have included successfully pursuing a claim arising out of a road traffic collision and defending a commercial client in a breach of contract claim.
He has advised and represented clients in the construction, engineering, oil & gas, retail and transport industries. His main areas of practice include commercial contract litigation, defending personal injury claims and financial services disputes.
Dean has regularly been involved in organising and speaking at client events to provide training on a number of aspects of Scottish civil court procedure.
