Richard leads the firm's international Payment Services Group and specialises in financial services related projects.
His work includes advising banks, e-money issuers and other payment institutions on issues relating to the development of new products, drafting associated terms and conditions and licensing and other compliance issues. He has particular specialisms in PSD2 and Open Banking, merchant acquiring and e-money, having worked on large projects for a wide range of UK and international providers in these areas. He has a lot of experience working on assurance projects for payment service providers and in recent times has done a large amount of compliance PSD2 related work for some of the largest psps in the UK
Richard regularly acts on strategic and high value projects and other recent projects include advising:
- a global bank on a regulatory review project looking at over 200 customer facing documents and associated operational processes
- a global bank on a multi-jurisdictional terms and conditions project
- a clearing bank on a PSRs project to rewrite over 100 sets of product terms including those relating to current accounts, liquidity products, digital banking and payments;
- a challenger bank on the rewrite and review of its current account and savings terms;
- a challenger bank on various retail and business banking products and its digital banking offering; and
- a top 5 UK bank on rewriting the terms and conditions for its current accounts and savings accounts products.
