Shehan has experience in advising on a wide range of technology and software contracts including new launches of technology offerings.

He has a clear understanding of the key legal issues in commercial contracts and has experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial and technology agreements including enterprise software licensing, SaaS, and IT outsourcing across a range of sectors including particularly within the financial services sector.

Shehan previously worked at a global financial software and services provider for 6 years advising on software licensing, SaaS, maintenance and development agreements. During his time at Eversheds Sutherland he has also been seconded to one of the largest insurance brokers in the UK and separately to the largest life insurance provider in the UK. He is used to working collaboratively with in-house legal teams and key stakeholders to deliver client excellence.

His recent experience includes:

  • Advising an asset management firm on the licensing, implementation and subsequent joint marketing of wealth management software managing c.£14 bn in assets.
  • Advising a multinational business on its licensing arrangements for a global expense management system.
  • Reviewing and drafting a solutions agreement capturing all flow ups from third party suppliers for a new solution being taken to market by a fund provider.
  • Drafting and advising on the set up of template agreements for a SaaS start up.

Shehan graduated with a Masters in Law and Finance from Queen Mary, University of London in 2015.
