Louise is a Partner in our employment and labour group specialising in UK employment and immigration laws with specialist expertise in the Industrials sector as well as being a lead partner for the Industrials sector.

Louise has particular experience in advising on the employment aspects of commercial transactions and providing strategic advice in connection with reorganisations and TUPE transfers.

Recent experience includes advising:

■     A US based industrial sector company in relation to many aspects of its group restructure. This involved a large scale inter-company restructure, and several acquisitions and disposals both in the UK and internationally. Advising on the application of TUPE to the various transactions and the associated employment liabilities arising as a consequence of them as well as providing strategic and practical advice

■     A global industrial sector client on its approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the different approaches across EMEA, the various Government subsidies available, any consultation requirements and its approach with the trade unions on its proposals.

■     A UK based energy sector client on the handling of a complex grievance raising allegations of race and sex discrimination and the successful mediation solution

■     A global water solutions provider on an international outsourcing of a number of its internal functions (IT, HR and Procurement) advising on the application of TUPE across multiple jurisdictions including the UK helping them to meet their commercial objectives

■     A  UK based industrials sector client on the successful mediation of a complex UK employee dispute,  assisting the client defend allegations of unfair dismissal and breach of contract from senior executives following their dismissal

■     A multinational energy sector client on cross border redundancies covering not only the UK but across Europe

■     A UK based utilities business on the changing of terms and conditions following the merger of its business with another, advising on not only the design of the initial proposals but the election of representatives, the running of the consultation process and the implementation of the changes ensuring that the project was completed on time and within budget

■     A multinational client on the impact of Brexit on UK immigration requirements and the ability to retain EU Nationals following the end of the transitional period
