He has experience of a broad range of contentious financial services work, including secured and unsecured recoveries litigation; complex, contested mortgage repossession matters; professional negligence; mis-selling in relation to various financial products; consumer credit claims; Equality Act disputes; regulatory advice; enforcement issues; and insolvency. He has been noted in a testimonial for the Legal 500 as having “case preparation [that is] meticulous”.

Joe has undertaken a secondment for a major high street bank, where he advised all arms of the business on litigation, managed their contentious cases, and assisted on internal regulatory projects.

Joe has particular expertise in relation to claims brought under s75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. He has undertaken a further, remote secondment to a retail bank, where he was responsible for providing oversight of the bank’s s75 claims handlers, and provided legal support on technical and strategic issues.

Joe has a large portfolio of litigation cases for major high street banks, and regularly provides strategic regulatory advice to lenders. He has successfully defended and negotiated favourable settlement on numerous claims made against clients.

Joe is heavily involved with the research of, drafting, and circulation of briefing notes to major clients in respect of relevant developments in banking litigation.
