Rich is a partner in our litigation and dispute management practice group, specialising in managing complex corporate and commercial claims. Rich has a particular focus on the industrial sector and has many years of experience working with industrial sector clients.
Rich handles a broad range of litigation and arbitration matters, helping clients manage complex disputes. His experience includes advising on commercial contract claims, supply chain disputes, commercial fraud cases, shareholder disputes and claims arising from corporate transactions (such as warranty claims).
In addition to his work in the industrial sector, Rich has substantial experience in the energy and natural resources sector, acting for clients such as National Grid, Cadent Gas and Severn Trent Water.
Rich’s recent experience includes:
- representing an aerospace client pursuing damages against a supplier for the supply of defective products, worth over $100m;
- acting for a multinational aviation services client on a cross-jurisdictional matter involving the recovery of a high value asset, unlawfully retained by a customer;
- acting for an industrial sector client in the defence of a high value product liability claim in the High Court;
- acting for a client on the pursuit through arbitration of a multi-million pound claim for breach of a minimum order volume commitment in a contract with a key customer;
- defending a number of clients against a multi-million pound claim for breach of contract and conspiracy commenced by a loan note holder, involving over 30 defendants; and
- successfully defending a water sector client against a £20 million claim for unjust enrichment in the Commercial Court – a decision subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeal.
Rich has been rated by Chambers & Partners for a number of years, highlighting his good sense of litigation tactics and versatility.
