Courtney is an Associate in our Competition, EU and Trade practice group.
She handles a broad range of international trade law matters, including EU/UK and U.S. export control and sanctions laws, WTO rules, import tariffs, product classification, rules of origin, contractual rights and obligations, and trade-related due diligence for corporate matters.
Courtney has also advised on a number of Brexit-related issues, namely in relation to the potential impact of Brexit, EU labelling legislation and the implications of trading under WTO rules, across the pharmaceutical, retail and energy sectors.
Her recent experience includes advising:
- a telecommunications supplier on EU/UK and U.S. sanctions concerning Syria, Russia and Sudan;
- a UK higher-education institution on the applicability of EU and UK export control laws during a joint investigation by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and UK Visa Immigration Departments;
- a global plastics, chemical and refining company on the implementation of the EU Energy Directive in multiple jurisdictions; and
- a food manufacturer on EU traceability and customs requirements in a no-deal Brexit scenario.
Courtney is currently on secondment at a global energy business advising on trade control issues. Prior to this, she spent 6 months on secondment at a global food and beverage manufacturer where she advised on a range of business and legal issues in relation to mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, commercial contracts and competition law.
