Practice notes
Mariya is an associate in our Construction and Engineering group, specialising in construction disputes.
She has gained experience on a range of matters involving various forms of dispute resolution: mediation, international arbitration, adjudication and court litigation.
Her recent experience includes: assisting the team in acting for an engineering contractor as respondent in LCIA proceedings (EUR50m claim) in relation to the supply and maintenance of a gas power plant; assisting on a major PFI restructuring involving the NHS Trust for a project worth £335m; co-ordinating the first three in a series of adjudications on behalf of a major real-estate developer relating to a luxury residential building in central London and assisting with the development and implementation of a multifaceted disputes strategy to achieve a satisfactory outcome; assisting on a multi-party dispute in the TCC relating to a series of complex issues; assisting with preparation for a mediation concerning a power and water contract in Qatar; and supporting on other adjudication and litigation proceedings.
Mariya can assist with transactional construction work, having previously supported on a major development funding project and advised on the negotiation of consultant appointments, novation agreements and warranties.
Mariya also has broader experience of general commercial contracts work and continues to deliver general commercial and regulatory advice and support as part of her practice. She has spent six months on secondment at a multinational technology company where she was supporting the UK operations and last-mile delivery businesses as part of the in-house legal team.
