Practice notes

Jessica is a Principal Associate in the Competition, EU and Trade team. She advises on a wide range of competition law matters including market studies, cartel investigations and multi-jurisdictional merger control, as well as giving day-to-day behavioural advice, particularly around vertical restraint issues and information exchange, and devising tailored competition law compliance training.

Jessica recently undertook a ten month secondment to Volkswagen Group UK’s legal department as in-house Legal Counsel. Reporting directly to VWG’s General Counsel, Jessica managed the day-to-day work of the Legal department, advising on commercial law (contract drafting and negotiations, data protection, marketing and advertising), litigation, competition law and providing legal training. Jessica was part of the core team who created an innovative route to market for VWG via a retail store. This required an in-depth understanding of the business and analysis of complex legal issues which arose in regard to the structure of the transaction, competition law concerns and the financial process. Steering committee attendance allowed Jessica to build key stakeholder relationships within both VWG and VWFS. Jessica was also previously seconded to the in-house legal department of Tyco’s UK subsidiary.

Jessica recently advised, as part of the core team, on a major European Commission cartel investigation which resulted in the first-ever European Commission cartel settlement post receipt of a Statement of Objections and the team winning a GCR award.

Winners of the Global Competition Review award for behavioural matter of the year (Europe). This was for the creative, strategic and innovative work carried out in a non-merger matter before an enforcer in Europe.
