Dermot is a savvy disputes lawyer, who is an accredited mediator, and also has a wide experience as a practitioner in litigation and arbitration over the last 30 years’. Dermot brings commitment, energy, drive and innovation to his role as a disputes lawyer. Dermot focuses on advising clients in the specialist areas of construction & property disputes (including design team professional indemnity claims); in the financial service sector and general commercial disputes. As a commercial mediator Dermot uses these skills to assist his clients in resolving difficult and protracted commercial disputes in the courts/arbitrators.

  • Advising International Technology Company on Contentious Construction issues relating to the ongoing build and negotiation of final account.
  • Acting for Stena Line in a breach of contract dispute before the Commercial Court.
  • Acting for Dublin Port in various claims before the Commercial Court, including a claim for professional negligence and a separate claim for breach of contract - before the Commercial Court.
  • Acting for clients in the successful resolution of a shareholders disputes and Directors and Officers Liability (D&O) claim resulting from claims of oppression of minority shareholders, and breach of Directors duties and obligations – before the Commercial Court.
  • Acting for an International Construction Company defending claims in an ICC Arbitration in Madrid.
  • Advising clients on a breach of contract claim relating to a commercial property transaction, before the Commercial Court. 
  • Acting as mediator and concilitor in a number of different disputes.
  • Acting for International chain of retail shops on various Landlord and Tenant issues.
