Practice notes

Rob is a Partner in our construction and engineering team specialising in international renewable and clean energy projects. Rob has advised on over 30GW of clean energy projects, including over 6 GW of solar projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Rob has particular experience of advising on the procurement of such projects in new jurisdictions and has advised on the first to market utility scale renewable projects in Jordan, South Africa, Egypt, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Cameroon.

Rob is ranked in Tier 1 for construction law in Chambers and Legal 500 and is featured in Energy Law Who’s Who.
Examples of projects Rob has recently advised on include:

  • Scatec Solar in relation to the construction and financing of 3 PV solar projects in Jordan funded by EBRD.
  • Alfanar on their wind and solar PV projects in Egypt including drafting and negotiating all construction and operation and maintenance contracts.
  • A Japanese engineering consultancy in relation to a 10MW battery storage project in the UK.
  • The developer in relation to the construction and operation and maintenance contracts for a large PV solar project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • A leading multinational power company in relation to a 50MW battery storage project in the UK of National Grid’s Enhanced Frequency Response Programme.
  • A major Finnish manufacturer in relation to construction and O&M contracts on solar PV projects in Cameroon and Senegal and drafting template documentation for use across Africa and in respect of a hybrid solar and battery project in French Caribbean.
  • Canadian Solar in relation to a number of solar PV projects in Africa.
  • Eskom in relation to a utility scale wind farm in South Africa.
  • the Forewind Consortium on their Round 3 projects.
