Julie is a corporate lawyer focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactional and advisory work in Qatar and the Middle East.

Julie handles a broad range of corporate transactional and advisory work, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and restructuring operations. With almost a decade working in Qatar, Julie works in both domestic and cross-border contexts and assists both listed and non-listed companies. Julie’s experience in corporate law encompasses joint ventures, due diligence exercises, stock exchange-related transactions and general corporate advice.

Julie also has experience in equity capital markets and has worked for clients on IPOs and direct listings on both the Main Market and Venture Market of the Qatar Exchange. This entailed reviewing offering documents and assisting clients with their corporate governance and other regulatory requirements.

Based on her knowledge in Lebanese, Qatari and French laws, coupled with diverse training and experience with a significant understanding of the Middle East business culture, Julie also contributes in the development of laws and regulations in Qatar and has participated in several legislative projects led by the team. Julie played a vital role in the Ministry of Finance’s mandate pertaining to improving Qatar’s rating in the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report. Julie also worked on the drafting of a number of laws in Qatar including the Moveable Assets Register Law for the Ministry of Justice and the revised Commercial Companies Law.

Julie is also very experienced in providing contentious and non-contentious advice to clients in respect of litigation and arbitration claims in a variety of fields including construction, finance, and agencies and plays an integral role on some of the team’s most challenging mandates.

Julie has a strong interest in promoting wellbeing, diversity & inclusion and is working with Eversheds Sutherland to promote the firm’s people strategy to serve Qatar and the region.

Julie’s recent client experience includes advising:

  • Baladna Food Industries on its QAR1.4bn IPO and listing on the main market of Qatar Stock Exchange
  • Al Faleh Educational Holding on its listing on the Venture Market of the Qatar Stock Exchange, making it the first company to be listed on this market
  • Barwa Bank on its proposed listing on the Qatar Stock Exchange
  • investors on establishing a presence in Qatar in compliance with the Foreign Investment Law
  • an international construction company on claims brought against contractors in Qatar for breach of subcontractor agreements
  • acting as lead outside counsel for a Qatari ministry in drafting implementing regulations for the ministry to operate as a market regulator
