Practice notes

Nick is an Associate Solicitor working within the Litigation and Dispute Management Practice Group.

As part of the Costs and Legal Project Management Department, Nick is responsible for working with clients to identify and implement appropriate commercial solutions to complex legal disputes across a range of sectors.

Having assisted clients across a wide range of sectors over a 10+ year career, Nick has developed a solid understanding of various areas of civil practice. He prides himself on timely and accurate advice, delivered in simple terms. Nick additionally appears regularly as an advocate on behalf of clients in courts up and down the country.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Nick spent time as a solicitor at DWF and Glaisyers Solicitors, in Manchester. Nick completed his Legal Practice Course, Masters Degree and Training Contract concurrently before being admitted to the role of solicitors in England and Wales in 2022.

In his spare time, Nick enjoys riding motorcycles and supporting St Helens Rugby League Club.

Over his career, Nick has presented many times at various client and internal conference and events.

Nick has delivered a breadth of costs and advisory work to a number of major companies, insurers, institutions and public bodies, including:

  • assisting on a High Court matter involving a key point of principle on applicability of fixed costs in cases involving harm, abuse or neglect by vulnerable adults
  • assisting on a High Court matter regarding principle recovery of hourly rates adjusted for inflation and increased far beyond the set guideline hourly rates at the time
  • providing advice and preparation of costs precedents in relation to a major multi-party construction dispute worth in excess of £10m
  • providing advice and preparation of costs precedents in relation to a delicate multi-million pound case involving an issue of ‘wrongful birth’

  • Admitted to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales (2022)
  • LL.M, Master of Laws Degree in Professional Legal Practice (The University of Law, 2019 – 2021)
  • LPC, Legal Practice Course, Post-Graduate Diploma (The University of Law, 2019 – 2021)
