Sam is a Senior Associate in the Real Estate Litigation Group.
Sam advises on all aspects of commercial property disputes including dilapidations, forfeiture, lease renewals, breach of covenant, recovery of arrears and nuisance. Sam is experienced on advising landlord's in relation to complex vacant possession strategies and development constraints.
Sam acts for institutional landlords, utility providers, retailers, developers and financial institutions.
Sam's recent experience includes:
Ongoing advice to a KAM client on a vacant possession strategy/development constraints to facilitate a circa £1.5 billion redevelopment;
Advising a tenant on a claim against its landlord on a significant property damaged by flooding. The claim was for breach of the lease and in nuisance. The claim was for over £1m in damages following the loss of an opportunity to sublet and loss of beneficial use. It was settled following a mediation on very successful terms for our client which included a significant payment; and
Dealing with a substantial dilapidations claim for an institutional landlord which was resolved at a mediation and resulted in the client receiving a significantly larger sum than anticipated.
Sam regularly delivers training both internally and externally.
Sam is the Chair of BPS Birmingham Future which is the membership organisation for the professional services sector in the West Midlands. The organisation has over 500 members and Sam takes overall responsibility for 7 committees.
