James is a transactional construction lawyer. He leads on the construction aspects of development finance deals and has experience working on major construction, energy and infrastructure projects.

A principal associate within Eversheds Sutherland's Construction Litigation Group, James focuses on transactional work. He has worked as a dedicated construction lawyer since qualifying in 2012 and leads on the construction aspects of development finance deals, together with having experience working on major construction, energy and infrastructure projects.

Whether you are a lender, borrower, forward funder, developer or contractor, James particularly advises on development finance-related documentation and risk, but has a broad range of experience across various construction-related matters. He can also advise you on stand-alone development issues, such as the negotiation and drafting of construction and related contract documentation, to include industry standard forms, across a range of stakeholder perspectives. He advises major lenders on the construction aspects and related risks of such projects, as well as international and domestic, private, and public sector entities, e.g., large-scale development, energy, transport and infrastructure projects generally.

James's previous experience includes construction disputes work (adjudication, arbitration, expert determination, mediation and litigation), as well an 18-month part-time secondment in-house with the Natural England Legal team, which included advising on large-scale renewable energy projects, large-scale infrastructure projects, judicial reviews, and environmental site designations.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching football, attending live music events, learning to speak Welsh and to play the guitar.
