Practice notes

Ian is a partner in our Corporate group. He specialises in domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity and has particular experience in the technology and consumer sectors. He acts for corporate and technology clients on acquisitions, disposals and investments and for private equity institutions, management teams and selling shareholders. He is a corporate lead in the firm’s international Technology Sector initiative.

Ian's recent experience includes acting for Arm Limited on the acquisition of technology assets in the UK, advising BBA Aviation on a strategic investment in a B2C technology platform, advising the selling shareholders of Timico Technology Group on its sale to a buy-out team backed by Lyceum Capital (shortlisted as East Midlands Deal of the Year), advising the management team of Random 42 Limited on a secondary MBO exit backed by Graphite Capital, advising the founder and selling shareholders of Sygnature Discovery Limited on an institutional investment made by Phoenix Equity Partners, advising management and rolling shareholders of GCI Telecom on an institutional investment made by Mayfair Equity Partners, advising Larsen & Toubro Infotech Limited on strategic acquisitions in the UK and US, advising Infor on the acquisition of technology assets in the US and Tunisia.

Ian has particular expertise in the issues impacting owner managed businesses. He is the founder and former managing director of an investor funded, growth stage business in the consumer sector. In this role Ian received a Certificate of Merit in the IoD Scotland Director of the Year Awards, was appointed a member of Scottish Enterprise's Global Ambitions Network and was a recipient of the Scottish EDGE Entrepreneurship Award.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Ian was a corporate partner at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP in London.
